THE PROJECT
Uniqlo, which is headquartered in Tokyo, is a global retailer with 3,000 stores in 20 countries, including 50 in the United States.
The company was founded in 1966 by Tadashi Yanai, who got his start in the retail world selling kitchenware in a big Japanese supermarket chain.
Today, the 69-year-old Yanai is a billionaire.
The Los Angeles Zoo was founded in 1966. The zoo has 250 species and 1,000 animals held in captivity.
The LA Fund for Animals is a collaboration between Uniqlo and the Los Angeles Zoo to improve the living condition of zoo wildlife.
The six-month project could evolve into a longer endeavor if the zoo model is successful. The money raised from the collaboration will be used to improve the wildlife habitats.

Many of the zoo animals suffer from depression and other psychological problems. Zoochosis is a term that used to describe zoo animals with mental health issues.
The top causes for zoo animals' depression are: living in a noisy tourist busy environment; don't get enough time to exercise; living in a small compacted area; lack of food.
The Fund for LA Animals project aims to change the living conditions of animals inside the Los Angeles Zoo, with a possible plan to expand in other parts of the United States.
